InMotion Hosting is very lucky to have welcomed a new intern through our Summer College Internship Program! The internships are designed to help students gain exposure, experience and learn about skills that they will need to succeed in their career field; our Public Relations Internship gives the opportunity to gain real experience in company branding and communications. Alyssa started with us when her classes ended in May and will be working with the team this summer. Keep reading to see more about her experience with the team so far!
What is your current role at InMotion Hosting? What do you like most about it?
I am the PR Intern. I love how accessible the HR team has been in helping me along with multiple projects. They have really dedicated a lot of time to making sure I get the most out of this summer. I love how I’ve been able to take charge on my assignments while feeling supported whenever I need direction.
How have you enjoyed working at InMotion Hosting since starting your internship?
I have really loved it! Everyone has been so helpful in helping me adjust to working from home. I’ve gotten to meet a good amount of team members thus far and I’m hoping to develop more relationships throughout my time here.
Where do you go to school? What are you currently studying?
I’m going into my fourth year at the University of Virginia. I am majoring in Media Studies with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship.
What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working on creating an Employee Value Proposition that encompasses what team members feel they get in return for working at IMH. I am also working on a Community Outreach Project where IMH plans to build partnerships with business owners in our community and a Grow With Us Campaign in an attempt to internally and externally brand the various training programs that IMH offers.
What are your career goals?
I plan to obtain my degree from UVA in the next year. My goal is to put my years of education to good use at a company that gives me the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. I have always been interested in marketing, public relations, and strategy and I hope that the skills I’ve gained thus far will allow me to build a solid career relating to those fields.
What would you like to tell us about yourself?
I’ve been on teams my whole life. I tried just about every sport growing up and settled on volleyball around age 9 and continued playing club volleyball into my college years. Although I don’t play anymore, I’ve gotten to stay in touch with my love for sports and I now work with UVA Athletics and Video Services doing various technical operations for sports games. I am also a waitress at a local restaurant called Trinity Irish Pub in Charlottesville. (Go Hoos!)
