InMotion Hosting is looking for a Senior Data Center Technician committed to providing highly reliable service and strong technical expertise to join our team in our Ashburn, VA Data Center. The Data Center Technician will handle incoming tickets, manage the readiness of servers, perform RMA’s, rack and unrack servers, and assist with network maintenance.

What You’ll Do:
- Work diligently to resolve open issues while ensuring that our uptime is always as high as possible.
- Provide server maintenance including hardware upgrades and replacements in our data center.
- Rack and cable servers, documenting all changes to inventory.
- Act as an escalation point from level 1 Data Center Technicians. Help them determine the best approach to solve issues and why the selected solution is the best option.
- Handle RMAs though the multiple vendors in a timely manner.
- Perform occasional checks on HVAC pressures, DC temperatures, power utilization, and “Amber checks” for errors.
- Handle the hardware and initial software portion of Evacs when needed.
- Perform regular physical inventory audits and maintain inventory system.
- Maintain the online knowledge database and documentation.
- Participate in scheduled maintenances allowing for shared workload in this area.
- Take part in on call events and rotations. Generally, this is one week on and 3 weeks off.

Ideal Candidates Have:
- Experience providing hardware and basic Linux support, preferably in a Data Center environment.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Familiarity with Linux and its commands/utilities at a user level.
- Strong understanding of run levels, basic Linux networking, partitioning, and running file system checks.
- Ability to handle Linux related issues where the server is inaccessible by standard remote access techniques.
- Understanding of drive cloning, formatting, mounting, testing, and upgrade procedures.
- Knowledge of shell scripting with common shells such as BASH, CSH, KSH or others.
- Familiarity with RAM types (Standard, ECC, ECC-REG) and the ability to correctly identify these modules for proper upgrades.
- Familiarity with general networking concepts and switch/router hardware.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to other team members and customers.
- Strong sense of urgency and attention-to-detail.
- Ability to detect and resolve problems in an efficient and timely manner, while analyzing business needs.
