InMotion Hosting is very excited to share our recent collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Virginia. The Boys & Girls club is a youth development organization whose mission is to enable young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsive citizens. Our team members got involved by participating in a reading program and by recording check-in videos for them. Reading books to children can help stimulate their imagination and expand their understanding of the world, so it’s no wonder the Boys & Girls Club invites volunteers to read to the children. Rachel, Courtney, and Erica volunteered to read short stories to the children through a video meeting. Whether it was an adventure in the park with Rodney from Where’s Rodney, or meeting new friends at the beach with Fergus and Dink from Pig Kahuna: Who’s That Pig?, everyone had a great time listening in for story time.
We also had team members create short, pre-recorded videos for each day during the last week of March. Each day followed a different theme to share with the children. Chenelle H. shared how “kindness begins with me” on Motivational Monday. After that, Todd B. shared some insight on change and growth for Transformation Tuesday. Wellness Wednesday brought some tips on how to deal with stress from Ashley N. On Tech Thursday, Erica N. talked about pseudocode and showed how children can learn basic principles of computer programming using Code For Life’s Rapid Router game. Lastly, on Fitness Friday, Amanda spoke about the importance of physical fitness. She also gave examples of small changes that can impact our health such as walking, or learning a new dance.
If you would like to check out the videos our team members made, you can see them here.
We want to thank our volunteers and the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Virginia for hosting these events. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club for years to come. Learn more about the Boys & Girls club by heading to their website.
