Hometown: Normal, IL (yes, that’s a real town, and yes, I’ve heard all the jokes)
Position: Human Resources Manager
Been with InMotion Hosting since: January 2017
What is your current role at InMotion Hosting? What do you like most about it?
HR Manager. I really enjoy the opportunity to work with a variety of people in every department as well as the opportunity to exercise creative-thinking. As a member of the HR team, working with others across all of our locations is an essential part of my job. There is always something new to learn, and I’m thankful to be part of a great team that gets it done!
What position did you start in with IMH? Tell us about your career growth since then.
I started with IMH as an HR Generalist in January 2017. I had just moved to Virginia from Illinois, and I was looking for a new HR opportunity when I was hired by IMH. I spent my first year as HR Generalist getting to know the company, people, and overall culture. In January 2018, I was given the opportunity to step into the HR Manager role, which is the role I currently fill.
Coolest gadget you own, want to own or have read about?
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the most forward tech-thinking individual, but as a new homeowner, I’d love to have a fully integrated Nest or “smart home” system installed.
What would you like to tell us about yourself?
As a hobby, I am a group fitness instructor! I teach a 5:15am strength-training class as well as a cardio fitness class on the weekends. This was a hobby that accidentally found me and definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone, but now it’s something that I can’t imagine not doing! It’s a great stress-reliever and gives me a chance to unwind and connect with a different group of people.
Have you used our Professional Development Program?
As soon as I became eligible, I took advantage of the Professional Development Program by renewing my professional membership to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). My SHRM membership gives me access to additional HR resources, tools, ideas, and advice, which has proved invaluable in an ever-changing profession within the rapidly-growing tech industry.
