InMotion Hosting is seeking a part-time Data Center Technician committed to providing highly reliable service and strong technical expertise to join our team in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Data Center Technician will handle incoming tickets, manage the readiness of servers, perform RMA’s, rack and unrack servers, and assist with network maintenance. What You’ll Do:Work diligently to resolve open issues while ensuring that our uptime is always as high as possibleProvide server maintenance, including hardware upgrades and replacements, in our data centerRack and cable servers, documenting all changes to inventoryMaintain inventory and perform regular physical inventory auditsMaintain the online knowledge database and documentationPerform occasional checks on HVAC pressures, DC temperatures, power utilization, and “Amber checks” for errorsHandle the hardware and initial software portion of Evacs when neededParticipate in scheduled maintenance, allowing for shared workload in this areaIdeal Candidates Have:Experience providing hardware and basic Linux support, preferably in a Data Center environmentStrong troubleshooting abilitiesFamiliarity with Linux and its commands/utilities at a user levelBasic understanding of run levels, basic Linux networking, partitioning, and running file system checksAbility to handle Linux-related issues where the server is inaccessible by standard remote access techniquesUnderstanding of drive cloning, formatting, mounting, testing, and upgrade proceduresEntry-level experience in shell scriptingFamiliarity with Intel and AMD processors, CPU socket types, Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) and Pin-Grid-Array (PGA), and CPU’s on motherboardsFamiliarity with RAM types (Standard, ECC, ECC-REG) and the ability to correctly identify these modules for proper upgrades. Knowledge of general networking concepts and switch/router hardware, understanding of switch and/or router language is a plus Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to other associates and customers.
