We are currently seeking an experienced, strategic, and inspiring Director of Development and Engineering to join our team. The Director will oversee all development and engineering activities, collaborating cross-functionally with other teams to ensure that solutions align with business goals, technical requirements, and best practices.
The Director of Development and Engineering is a key leadership position that will drive the continued growth of our InMotion Hosting product lines and our family of brands including RamNode, Hub, and BoldGrid. You will be responsible for guiding the technical strategy and ensuring that the development efforts are aligned with business objectives, while also focusing on compliance and international scalability.

What You’ll Do:
Development
- Provide expert guidance on software architecture, design patterns, and best practices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions.
- Lead architectural reviews, ensuring the quality, scalability, and maintainability of software solutions.
- Champion best practices for secure coding, secure APIs, and data protection throughout the development lifecycle.
- Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and code reviews to ensure systems and products are resilient against emerging security threats.
- Identify opportunities to leverage new and emerging technologies to enhance products, services, and development practices.
- Author and present technical documentation, whitepapers, and presentations to effectively communicate the technology vision and roadmap to diverse stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams of software engineers and developers, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee product development by engineering and development teams, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Modernize legacy systems by identifying inefficiencies, proposing innovative solutions, and guiding teams toward scalable, future-proof architectures.
Engineering
- Define and lead the mission and vision of the core infrastructure team, fostering a business-oriented culture and continuous service improvement mindset.
- Drive the development and implementation of core infrastructure technology standards, governance processes, and performance metrics to ensure alignment with the organization’s overall technology strategy.
- Enhance the performance of marketing websites, collaborating with Marketing leadership to set clear performance goals and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Ensure seamless customer journeys by optimizing all customer touchpoints, ensuring smooth interactions and management of software-related products and services.
- Oversee the development and deployment of new website capabilities, features, and content, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with stakeholder requirements and expectations.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A leader with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, and 7+ years equivalent experience preferred. Minimum 5+ years of proven leadership skills in managing a team of developers is required.
- A leader with proven experience in the application of the business, regulatory, and technical considerations for entering new markets in the EU, LATAM, Asia, and the Middle East. Ensure the scalability and performance of systems to handle a diverse and growing user base across different time zones and geographies.
- A leader well versed in LAMP for historical foundational knowledge as well as a strong understanding of NGINX, PHP-FPM, Redis, and emergent solutions such as containerization with Docker, orchestration with Kubernetes, and serverless architecture.
- A leader with demonstrated experience with microservices, API-first engineering practices, and emergent trends in distributed and scalable web hosting solutions. Proficiency in WordPress and other open-source CMS platforms is vital, including a deep understanding of their architecture, customization options, plugin development, and integration with modern technologies to deliver efficient and scalable content management solutions.
