How to Update cPanel in your VPS

Note that you will need root access in order to use these directions. These directions will also apply to updating cPanel on a dedicated server.

Performing updates and maintenance is a regular part of managing a server. One of those common tasks includes cPanel Updates. Updating cPanel ensures the latest features and security patches are available to your cPanel users. In this tutorial, we will show you how to update cPanel on your VPS.

Updating cPanel

  1. Log into your server via SSH as the root user.
  2. Run the following command in your shell instance:
    /scripts/upcp
  3. Allow some time for the update to complete, it may take quite some time (depending on the size of the update). You are finished when you see a “Completed all updates” message.

  4. Congratulations, now you know how to update cPanel on your VPS server! Your server should now be running the latest available version of the cPanel software.
