It creates an easy way to create rich, media-enhanced text using syntax which is easy to learn and remember. This article requires that you have the Jetpack plugin loaded for your WordPress site.
How to Enable Jetpack Markdown for Posts and Pages in WordPress
When you enable markdown in Jetpack for WordPress posts or pages you will see the following in the Writing settings page:
- Log in to the WordPress Administrator Dashboard.
- Click on Jetpack, then click on Settings.
- In the Jetpack Settings screen, click on Writing at the top of the page.
- Scroll down until you find the Composing section. Click on the slider option labeled “Write posts or pages in plain-text Markdown Syntax.” This will enable markdown for your posts and pages.
How to Enable Jetpack Markdown for Comments in WordPress
If you enable markdown for your comments, then you will see the screen in the Jetpack Discussion settings page:
- Log in to the WordPress Administrator Dashboard.
- Click on Jetpack, then click on Settings.
- In the Jetpack Settings screen, click on Discussion at the top of the page.
- Near the top of the screen you should see the section labeled Comments. Scroll down until you see the slider labeled “Enable Markdown use for comments.” Click on the slider to enable the option.
