Requesting a Tax Exemption
Countries, states, and other regions may grant tax exemptions for organizations or businesses that meet certain criteria. If you qualify for a tax exemption and would like to request a tax exemption on your InMotion Hosting account, please follow the below guides:
Tax Exemptions for New Customers
If you are setting up a new account at InMotion Hosting and need to request a tax exemption, please speak to a Sales Representative prior to purchase. Please have the following information and documents ready to provide to your Sales Representative:
- The primary email address to be used on the new account
- The name of the tax exempt organization or business
- The Tax Exemption Number or Employer Identification Number (EIN)
- Any relevant tax exemption documentation for your state, province, or country
This information will assist your Sales Representative, allowing them to include your tax exempt status in your customer profile during checkout.
Tax Exemptions for Existing Customers
If you qualify for a tax exemption that is not currently included on your account, please email us at [email protected] with the following information:
- The primary domain name or username of the account
- Proper account verification
- The name of the tax exempt organization or business
- The Tax Exemption Number or Employer Identification Number (EIN)
- Any relevant tax exemption documentation for your state, province, or country
A member of our team will respond as quickly as possible. Any applicable refunds for taxes and/or fees you have already been charged will also be reviewed once you have submitted your information and documentation. Once approved, your tax exemption status will be noted on your customer profile and applied to all future purchases and payments.
Tax Exemptions and Multiple Accounts
You may be wondering what you need to do if only some of your sites or subscriptions qualify for a tax exempt status. Perhaps you are in charge of multiple businesses or organizations that have different tax exemptions. To properly provide a tax exemption tailored to your needs, you may need to split off certain subscriptions onto separate accounts.
The tax exemption status is applied at the account level — all subscriptions on an account will be flagged as either exempt or non-exempt. As each InMotion Hosting account is tied to one particular tax exemption status, you may need to create separate accounts for each tax exempt organization or business. If you are in charge of multiple subscriptions, some of which qualify for a tax exemption and some of which do not, or you have multiple tax exemptions, please either purchase a separate account if adding a new subscription, or request that we move any existing subscriptions to a separate account.
If you are an existing customer and need to create a new account specifically for a tax exempt business or organization, please reach out to our Sales Team for assistance.
Changing or Removing a Tax Exemption
If you have an active tax exemption that needs to be changed or is no longer valid and needs to be removed, please email our team at [email protected] with the relevant details and someone from our team will assist you directly.
Special Tax Exemption Needs
If you have an unusual tax exemption circumstance not covered above, or simply have further questions, please email us directly at [email protected] with as much relevant information as you can provide and someone from our team will be happy to assist you.
