cPanel 56 Upgrade Notes and New Features

Issue:cPanel 56 upgrade
Status:cPanel 56 upgrades currently being deployed
Who is impacted?VPS and Dedicated Hosting customers who have NOT turned off Automatic Updates
Estimated time until resolution:Upgrades will be implemented over several days.

This release will not be applied to shared hosting packages at this time.

Some changes to note with this release:

Security Notifications via Email

The Security Advisor feature in WHM performs a basic security review of the server and will now send notifications to the server’s contact email. While we believe this is a good feature, it can identify issues that may pose little to no risk to your server’s security. At this time, there is no way to deactivate this feature. However, those emails can be ignored.

Copy Multiple Accounts/Packages from Another Server with Transfer Tool

You can now copy multiple Accounts and Packages from another server with the Transfer Tool interface. This will be helpful for resellers who need to transfer a large number of accounts from their former host or from a different server.

What you will need to use the Transfer Tool:

  1. SSH access to the remote server
  2. root-level privileges with the su or sudo commands

Convert Addon Domain to Account

This new interface allows you to convert an existing addond domain into a full cPanel account. This will be useful for customers who want to give full cPanel access to users who only maintain an addon domain.

Review Transfers and Restores

This features provides you with an interface to review logs for server transfers and account restorations.

  1. During the upgrade process it seems the something went wrong on our VPS, and causing WHM and cPanel to display 500 internal errors and sending continuous errors and downtime monitoring reports.

Please let us know what we can do.

    1. Hello Chris, sorry to hear you have been having trouble with 500 errors. If the problem indeed started with the upgrade our Live Support may be able to isolate the direct cause after reviewing your server environment.

  2. I recieved an email regarding certificate install today…

Subject: Certificate Order (#1657957) is ready for pickup

I did not order this.  Was this done as a result of an internal review / audit process?

    cPanel SSL Certificate

    Dear [email protected],

Good news! Your SSL Certificate is now available for download and installation.

The certificate covers the following domains:

If you obtained your certificate through the cPanel SSL/TLS Wizard, your certificate should be automatically installed. If you need help manually installing your certificate, please visit: https://go.cpanel.net/manuallyinstallSSL.

    1. Hello Robert,

Sorry for the confusion on the SSL certificate. It appears to be related to your server certificate. You will need to submit that email to our live support team so that they can update or follow up on that order if necessary. You can submit a verified support ticket here.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

      Regards,
