Joomla 2.5 has reached its end of life as for 12/31/2014. Please be advised this may be a security risk to your website. You can view more information about the end of life here.
When you assign an article to the front page in Joomla 2.5, also referred to as featuring an article, there are various settings you can adjust to help determine where on the front page the article will be display. For example, you can order front page articles by when they were published or alphabetically. In this article, we will cover several of the options you can configure for your front page articles. The first thing we need to review is how to access these settings.
To access your Feature Article display settings in Joomla 2.5:
- Log into your Joomla Admin Dashboard
- In the top menu, hover over Menus and click Main Menu
- Find and click on your Home page
The settings we will be reviewing today are located in the right menu under Layout Options.
# Leading Articles
A leading article is an article that is shown using the full width available for the page. Adjust the # of leading articles to determine how many articles will be shown using the full width.
Leading Articles set to 1 | Leading Articles set to 2 |
---|---|
# Intro Articles
Intro articles are those displayed under leading articles, and they are usually displayed in columns. The default number of intro articles is 3, and you can see in the screenshots below what happens when we adjust this value:
Intro Articles set to 3 | Intro Articles set to 4 |
---|---|
# Columns
The number of columns setting is more self explanatory. By default, there are three columns in which intro articles are displayed. Adjusting this value changes how many columns of intro articles are shown on your Joomla 2.5 front page.
# Columns set to 3 | # Columns set to 2 |
---|---|
# Links
If you have more featured articles set than you do leading articles and intro articles set to show, then it makes sense that you will not be able to display all of your featured articles. The default value for the number of links is set to 0, however if you set it to 1 or more, it will display links to featured articles that cannot be shown in either the leading or intro article fields.
