Joomla 2.5 has reached its end of life as for 12/31/2014. Please be advised this may be a security risk to your website. You can view more information about the end of life here.
If you setup caching in Joomla 2.5, your Joomla site will begin generating cache files. When caching is configured, a threshold is set that determines how long content should be cached for. Old cache files can build up and over time may begin using up significant disk space on your Joomla 2.5 hosting account. Because of this, it is recommend to periodically purge your expired cached files. This can be a resource intensive process on the server, so it may be best to run this task when your server is the least busy, such as in the middle of the night.
How to Purge Expired cache in Joomla 2.5:
- Log into your Joomla Admin
- In the top menu, hover over Site >> Maintenance, and then click Purge Expired Cache.
- Click the Purge Expired icon in the top left menu to Purge Expired Cache in Joomla 2.5
