The Joomla search feature finds your Contacts Updated on November 19, 2021 by Brad Markle 1 Minutes, 9 Seconds to Read When you are using the Joomla Contacts Component, the search feature on your site will allow you to search through your contacts. For example, we have a contact named Student A and Student B. As you can see in the screenshot to the right, searching our site for student brings back both of these contacts as a search result. Accessing the Joomla Contacts Search Plugin: The reason search can find contacts is because there is a Search – Contacts plugin. You can see what we are referring to by: Log into your Joomla 3.0 admin dashboard In the top menu, click Extensions and then click Plug-in Manager In the left sidebar, set the – Select Type – drop down to search The page will refresh and will only show search plugins. To prevent Joomla Contacts from showing up in Search If you didn’t want the search feature of your site to search through contacts, disable the Search – Contacts plugin. You can do this be clicking the green checkmark next to the plugin (which will change the check to a red x, meaning the plugin has been disabled). Increase your site’s search speed! If you have lots of contacts setup within Joomla, disabling the Contacts Search Plugin can actually increase your own site’s search feature because it no longer has to sift through and sort any of your contacts.
