In the Global Configuration settings of Joomla 3.0 is a set of SEO Settings that you can adjust. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, and configuring these parameters will allow you to change various settings about your site that some search engines may look at when crawling your site.

In this tutorial, we’ll look specifically at the Search Engine Friendly URLs setting.

To adjust your Joomla 3.0 SEF URL setting:

  1. Log into your Joomla 3.0 admin dashboard
  2. In the left menu under the SYSTEM heading, click Global Configuration
  3. There are several tabs at the top: Site, System, Server, Permissions, Text Filters. Ensure you are on the Site tab by clicking on it.
  4. On the right side of the page under the SEO Settings heading, find the Search Engine Friendly URLs setting. Select either Yes / No to adjust the value.
  5. In the top left menu, click Save to save these changes. In our testing, we wrote an article named This is my first test article and assigned it to the Uncategorized category. Below shows what the URL to this article looks like when we have the Search Engine Friendly URLs setting toggled to Yes / No:
Search Engine Friendly URLs – YES

  1. Hello Sydney20,

The issue is with the script timing out, most likely. I would try increasing the execution time from 60 seconds. Maybe double it and see if it doesn’t help. The server can take the files – this is just the code having an issue with being able to download the files. You probably just need to play with the settings a little more and it will work fine. Try increasing it again and see if it resolves the issue.

If you have any further questions, please contact technical support or leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

    Regards,

    Arnel C.

  2. ok all but 3 videos have uploaded. The last three are the largest. #1 = 132mb, #2 = 135mb, and #3 = 144mb. I looked ant the .ini file and it all looks like they should load. What am I missing?

  3. Hello Sydney20,

your php.ini is set to have an upload_max_filesize of 128MB. I have increased that to 256MB for you.

Also your max_execution_time for a script was set to the default 30 seconds. This can also come into play, so I increased that to 60 seconds.

If you need to alter the settings any further, you can log into your cPanel, go to the File Manager (found in the Files category) and simply locate the php.ini in your public_html folder. From there, right click it and select Edit. This opens it up in a text editor and allows you to change any setting you need.

    Best Regards,
    Scott M

  4. The files need to be uploaded thru DDD (Digital Download Device) It is the software I am using to manage the downloads. They tell me I need to remove the limits on the ini file.
