Disabling all overrides in PrestaShop 1.6

When you run into errors or malfunctions for your store you may want to https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/prestashop/login-prestashop-dashboard/debug the application. This allows you to track down any offending code and fix it. PrestaShop 1.6 has some new features you can use to help you debug your store. One of these features is to disable all overrides.

PrestaShop’s object oriented code allows you to override the core code by extending the classes with your own code. By disabling all overrides and running the normal core code, you can test and see if the error persists. If it does, the issue is within the core code. If the issue stops after disabling the overrides, you will know the error exists in the extension code. This helps give you a starting point for tracking down the error.

How to disable all overrides in PrestaShop 1.6

  1. First, you will need to enable debug mode/error reporting.
  2. Next, log into your PrestaShop 1.6 administration dashboard.
  3. Once in the dashboard, click on the Advanced Parameters menu option located on the left hand sidebar. From there, click on the Performance link.

  4. You are now on the Performance page. Look to the Debug Mode section and toggle the Disable All Overrides button.

  5. Click on the Save button to activate the setting.
If you wish to permanently disable the overrides, just leave the toggle set to ‘Yes‘ when you disable the debug/error reporting mode.

  1. I had a logout problem, the screen froze on signing out of front office.
Restoring php files did not fix

I ended up disabling all overides and this worked.
    Q. Leaving this set to YES, will there be any unforeseen consequences of this fix?

    Many thanks

    1. It is difficult to say since we do not know the root cause, but I recommend checking that all your 3rd party Addons and Themes are all up-to-date and compatible with your version of PrestaShop.

Also, review any changes that were made around the time the problem began.

      Thank you,
      John-Paul
