Adding a Cookie Notice for GDPR in WordPress

If you are using cookies on your WordPress site and have visitors from Europe, you should let them know. This requirement is due to the EU adopting the General Data Protection Regulations also known as GDPR. You can easily comply with GDPR requirements by implementing a cookie notice using a 3rd party plugin.

(This article assumes you have a live WordPress website. Not quite there yet? That’s okay! We can get you up and running with WordPress Hosting.)

Adding a Cookie Notice for GDPR

  1. Log into your WordPress Dashboard.
  2. Click Plugins then Add New.
  3. Type ‘cookie notice for gdpr’ in the search field.
  4. You will see the Cookie Notice for GDPR plugin by dFactory listed. Click the Install Now button.

  5. Once it has been installed click the Activate button. Now when people visit your site, a message on the bottom will notify them that you use cookies.
