With the Members plugin, it’s easy to add and take away special privileges for the default WordPress users or custom user roles. In this article, we’re going to show how to create a user role and assign those privileges.
Adding new members to your site is a great way to make the most of our state-of-the-art WordPress Hosting packages.
Creating the “Premium User” Role
For this example, we’re going to create a custom role for a “Premium User”, who will be granted access to see private posts.
- Log into your WordPress Dashboard
- Select Add New Role under Users
- Name your new role
- Select Posts under Edit Capabilities
- Grant the Read Private Posts capability by checking the box under the Grant column
- Click Add Role to save your new role
