Want to blog quickly but don’t have time to log into your Dashboard and create a Post? A good solution for you is to blog over email.
Do you have guest contributors? You can give them a secret email address for submitting Posts to your site. Set the category you want the Posts to show up in and you don’t even need to give them Dashboard access.
With WordPress, this ability is built right in. But, the setup can be a little tricky.
Follow along and we’ll take the guesswork out of setting up WordPress to allow blogging over email.
Note: You will need to create an email account and save your incoming email settings before following this guide.
Blog Over Email Setup
- Log into your WordPress Dashboard.
- Click Settings then Writing in the navigation menu.
- Under the Post via email section, fill in your incoming email settings. Below is an example of what they will look like:
Be sure to use your own incoming email settings.
Setting Example Mail Server mail.example.com Port 995 Login Name [email protected] Password We highly recommend using a strong password when you create the email account. Default Mail Category Uncategorized - Click the Save Changes button to complete the setup.
