This article describes how to use the Android Pie operating system to add your email account to your mobile device. Once you have set up email on your mobile device, you will be able to send and receive messages.

How to Add an Email Account
Android Pie allows you to add an email account directly from within the Email application. Follow the steps below to learn how to add your email address, so you can send and receive email on your mobile device.
IMPORTANT: Android versions can vary by the device’s manufacturer. Although similar in functionality, the on-screen elements and text may be different from the ones included in this guide. These instructions were written using a Samsung device. If you are using an HTC device, be sure to check out our guide here for help setting up your email.
- Open the Email application.
NOTE: If you have not added any email accounts yet, then a Set up Email guide will appear and you can skip to the next step below. If you have already added an email account, then you will need to tap on the Email menu icon (≡), then select the Settings (cog) icon. This will take you to the Email Settings page. Tap on the Add account option to proceed.
- Tap Other.
- Tap Manual setup.
- Tap IMAP account.
- Enter your email account information for each field.
NOTE: You can find your email settings in cPanel.
IMPORTANT: Your username for the IMAP and SMTP server should both use the full email address.
IMPORTANT: IMAP and SMTP require authentication.
- Tap Sign in.
Congratulations! Your Android device is now set up to send and receive messages using your email account.
