Connectivity issues for Comcast customers

We’ve recently had an increase in calls from customers of Comcast stating that they are having connectivity issues connecting to servers in our network.

Our system administration team working with Comcast technicians, has determined that these temporary routing issues are from within Comcast’s own network, and are not currently something directly related to InMotion Hosting.

If you are a Comcast customer, and you’re having issues reaching any of your services with InMotion Hosting, please contact Comcast directly in order to report this issue. The more direct Comcast customers that alert them of these issues, the higher priority of an issue it will become for them.

  1. Tim,

Thanks for looking into this further. I’m trying to download messages via the POP3 protocol while leaving the messages unread on the server. This would allow me to check for new messages from another computer or my phone and see that there are messages I personally have not read, although they may have been downloaded by a client on one of my computers.

  2. Hi Raidoh,

Thanks for getting back to me. I’ve tested this so I’m sorry for the delay in replying. So, messages that are read on the server in webmail (and any message that is downloaded into a POP3 account is marked as read) will still show up in the email client connecting as POP3 as unread.

I verified this by setting up an account and testing it with Thunderbird. I even tested to make sure if I read the message through webmail that it would download the message as unread in Thunderbird.

It seems the behavior is the same for read / unread messages in webmail. Both are downloaded to the client as unread.

So I’m not sure why you want to make messages on the server as unread, since it does not affect the behavior of the POP3 email client.

Please let me know what you are trying to accomplish and I’ll be happy to help you find a solution.

If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us.

    Thanks!

    Tim S

  3. You make it sound like it’s inherent in the POP3 protocol, but it works exactly this way on accounts I have at another email provider. Oh, well.
