The Softaculous Instant Installer provides an easy way for you to install programs on your server. This allows you an easier method to maintain, update, remove, backup, and restore web applications on your web server.
Softaculous comes with all of our shared hosting plans. cPanel-managed VPS/Dedicated server administrators can purchase Softaculous in the Account Management Panel (AMP).
Softaculous is a great example of how many things you can accomplish with Linux server hosting.
Below is a list of installable software within Softaculous:

Hi Scott,
Please i wanna know how to make a Script Package. i tried many downloaded script .zip but when i run installation in softaculous it says info.xml file is not found, i unzipped created an info.xml file and rezipped but it keeps on display the same info
kindly help
thanks
Hi Pixel, looking at the official Softaculous documentation on packages, it looks like they provide a reference copy of an info.xml file. Were you using one formatted a similar way? Hope that helps!
Hi,
I tried installing OpenBiblio, but I’m getting the message that it requires an older version of PHP. I’d actually prefer not to change the version of PHP I’m on, but I wonder if there’s any way to still install this software.
Just curious if this can be fixed somehow…
You may be able to create a subdomain and change the PHP version for that specific subdomain. Otherwise, you may need to install it manually.
Nice post. This article is really very helpful to know the list of programs in cpanel.
Thanks for sharing.
Microsoft updates my FrontPage all the time. Why trow a way something that works? Is it that the hosting Co gets more money for other programs?
Hello Annabelle,
Microsoft Frontpage is a program that was originally part of Microsoft in 1997 and discontinued in 2005. It was replaced by Microsoft Expression Web and Sharepoint Designer in 2006. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_FrontPage). Considering that this program was based on software that has been changed since the software appeared 20 years ago and that Microsoft discontinued it in 2006, the decision was made to no longer support it in cPanel as well.
We do not get more money for other programs that we promote. We try to promote open-source solutions that make it easy for our users to afford and create website solutions that they need.
If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.
Regards,
Arnel C.

it’s really amazing blog post !
I am really disappointed in Softaculous and My web host. I have wasted more time than I care to think about. The software is old and instructions are non existent for those of us who do not program. “Easy to install” Well it may be easy to install but it does no good if it does not work and does not explain where I can and cannot place the code or what I need to change with what in the code. I go to the forums and find eleven year old posts with people having same problems I am. This shows me that someone is not making any attempt to provide proper, up to date instructions for their customers. I should not have to wade through hours of this stuff that nearly always leads nowhere! No provider should offer any software on their site until they have written out an explanation of the software and it’s limits and step by step instructions for dummies. Otherwise it should be advertised for “Experienced or Programmers Only.” I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I am a long way from the dullest either. I am pretty good at figuring things out but… For my “contact us” mail form I finally gave up went to another site, downloaded their program read the INSTRUCTIONS! and boom! no problem. Works great but not anything I have tried here on InMotion. No wonder Support is so busy and a headache to get into. Improper documentation will do that.
Is there a download to add a feature for a visitor to login in order to gain access to certain pages?
Hello Bob,
What you are asking would be a feature as part of a program instead of an individual program. Softaculous is only for full featured programs. You would likely need to find a developer to add that feature to your website.
Kindest Regards,
Scott M
this list is useful..
It is great post thanks for sharing this.
Good share.
Since InMotion no longer supports FrontPage Extensions, I cannot update my FrontPage designed website, how can I use WordPress to copy and paste my current site into WordPress?
You are still able to upload your site from FrontPage via FTP, but I do highly recommend building your site in WordPress over FrontPage as FrontPage is extremely outdated and not even supported by Microsoft anymore.
Unfortunately, to do so, you cannot simply copy and paste your site and will need to fully re-create it using WordPress.
