how can I stop potential hackers?

I administer a web site that uses Word Press and is hosted by Inmotionhosting. Some hacker robot from the Russian Federation has been trying to log in at the site. Yesterday there were thousands of attempts. It is possible that the originating IP addresses were forged, but they all are from the Russian Federation. So far the hacker hasn't broken any passwords. Is there any good way to discourage the hackers?
