Wildcard SSL - subdomain redirects

I am a reseller and have a client with a site that has multiple subdomains for various aspects of his business. His site has a dedicated IP address and we installed a Comodo wildcard ssl cert in order to cover everything domain.xom and *.domain.xom. Main site is secure, but whenever a subdomain is accessed, it redirects to the domain.xom. Do I need to attach the certificate to every subdomain? How do I stop the redirects?

Thanks for the question about the WildCard SSL installation for your reseller account. It would need to be installed for all domains that it covers. It shouldn't have to be installed for the subdomain (if the certificate covers the domain for that subdomain), but if it's not providing a secure connection, I would set it up for the subdomain just in case. Your definition of subdomain might differ from mine. If you're referring to a folder/directory UNDER the main domain, that's what we consider subdomains. For example, https://main_domain/subdomain. If you're referring to another addon domain, then yes, the wildcard certificate would need to be assigned for each domain that it covers.

Your re-directs are typically handled in the .htaccess file, so you need to review your .htaccess file and determine why accessing the subdomain is re-directing to the main domain. If you were referring to addon domains as subdomains, make sure to check the root folder assigned to the addon domain. They should have their own folder. If they're assigned to the primary domain's folder, then it will look like it's being re-directed.
