linking back to main domain from opencart

I have created my own site that I will be loading to my main domain. I have created a subdomain for my ecommerce. I have not yet installed opencart but I have bought my ssl certificate for the subdomain.
I need to know how well it can go back and forth between the sites, specifically, can I link back to my main domain so a customer can go back and forth?
