Asking For Password During Chat

hello, I find it strange that chat representatives are asking for a password for validation. This is an indication that passwords are stored in cleartext, but even if they aren't, it is still poor security practice to ask for the password. among other reasons, if the chat transcript is emailed, the password is in clear text in the email. what is the justification for asking for the password during chat?

Hello, Thank you for your question about validation. A password is only one way you can validate your account. You can do so via a special passphrase (different version of a password used only for validation) or the also 4 digits of a card on file (can be active or not.) In any case, you will still be typing the information into chat. Chat itself is over a secure connection. Kindest Regards, Scott M
