Setting up email before website migration

If I create my email addresses in my cPanel, will that effect receipt of mail currently hosted on Dreamhost? I want to make sure I don't interrupt mail receipt while I am building my site before it is live on InMotion.

Hello,

Thank you for your question about DNS changes and email. Yes, you can set up your email in advance in your cPanel and the changes will not take effect until you point the Nameservers for the domain to InMotion.
