Hello Sidraawan5,

Sorry for any confusion regarding the renewal of a domain.  As John Paul explained earlier, domains are auto-renewed because they are subscriptions. This is done in order to preserve uptime for a website. If you don't renew or the card has expired, then it's possible that the site would go down until the domain name is renewed.  You can always update your credit card information very easily in the Account Management Panel (AMP).  You can also contact our Customer Service team via phone/email/chat in the event that you can not handle the issue through the AMP interface.

Always keep your domain registration up-to-date.  If it is expired for any long period of time, then the site will not be accessible and can go into what's known as redemption.  Domain Redemption can last up to 100 days and be very expensive to remove. So, it is very important that you allow a domain to auto-renew without interruption to prevent any extended downtime due to domain registration issues.

If you require further assistance beyond the AMP interface, then please contact our Customer Service team and they can help you immediately.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Kindest regards,

Arnel C.

Hello sidraawan5,

Thank you for contacting us about renewing a domain. All domains are set to renew automatically by default so your site does not go down. Unless you specifically requested we set it to expire. As long as your credit card is up-to date, you don't have to do anything. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact our Live Customer Service team for assistance.

Thank you,

John-Paul

Thanks for submitting a question about renewing your account. If you have already emailed customer service then you have taken the necessary steps to get the issue resolved. I'd advise waiting for a reply from customer service. We cannot resolve account-related issues in our public forum for privacy and security reasons.

Good afternoon,

Thanks for your question about renewing an expired domain. Domains are have expired cannot be renewed in the system. They are typically in a state or Redemption. This is where the domain registrar charges a different fee to reclaim the domain prior to it being available to the public and is almost like a penalty for letting it expire. I'd suggest reaching out to customer service to find out how much this will cost, since it's not actually a renewal.

I hope this helps!

Thanks!

Hello zonekeeper, More than likely the email that you got stating the domain name was about to expire also contains instructions on how to go about renewing it. It doesn't appear that domain name was registered through us, so you'll want to contact the Registrar who registered the domain name for you to inquire about getting it renewed successfully. You can find information about your domain such as the Registrar by following the steps in our guide on how to look up a domain's whois information. According to the whois record for the domain, it does look like it's set to expire yesterday 3/25/2013, so you'd want to get that taken care of as soon as possible to ensure the domain doesn't go into redemption which can be more expensive to renew it from. Hope that information is helpful, please let us know if you had any further questions. - Jacob
