I have a site hosted here. I made a subdomain to create a new design. I do NOT want to play around with the old site, I want to start from scratch, but most of the tutorials are about transferring existing files and databases. How do I start from scratch?

I'm the new webmaster for this account and I need to create a new staging site while leaving the existing site operating for now. Can this be done here?

Thank you for replying. Unfortunately, I'm such a beginner, most of what you said is way ahead. I'm not using anything, wordpress or otherwise. I'm literally just starting out. Someone else built my site and now I'm in charge. So...my next step is to forget the subdomain thing, and click Wordpress? Feel free to point me in another direction for help.
