Transfer to Free SSL from other SSL certificates
my site was using comodo SSL Certificate, which expired. I like to use free SSL option offered by you guys. I followed the instructions to generate it, But still get "Your Website is insecure" message.
I'm running the check now.
anything else I need to do?
Hi, Kam! It sounds like the old, expired SSL is still installed and active. The free SSLs always let other, manually installed SSLs like your old Comodo SSL take precedence-- that way we don't accidentally block out a paid SSL.
So, you'll need to remove that expired Comodo SSL. After, just run the free AutoSSL again in cPanel to make sure it is installed correctly and you should be set!
A few notes to help out:
- Don't worry about the step involving AutoSSL again in AMP, you only need to run it again in cPanel after the old certificate is removed.
- Until you asked, I did not realize we don't have a guide specifically on removing old SSLs, so I'll be writing that for future reference! Until then though, here are some steps to help you remove the old certificate.
1. Log in to your cPanel.
2. Under the Security section, go to SSL/TLS. Do not go to SSL/TLS Status.
3. Once there, click on the "Generate, view, upload, or delete SSL certificates" link under Certificates (CRT).
4. Your Comodo SSL should be clearly labelled and expired, so just hit the 'delete' key for it.
From there, you should be able to just run AutoSSL again and you'll be set. Hope that helps!
