How to install new wordpress site to URL newsite.mydomain.com

I've done it before, I think using Softaculous, but it's been a while. Now when I start Softaculous, it asks me if  I want to use a sub-directory to install the new site. This will give me a new URL mydomain.com/newWPsite.

However I want the URL newWPsite.mydomain.com. I can't figure how to do this using Softaculous. Does it mean I have to do a manual WP install? Create the new sub-directory first, then manually install WP in it? I don't remember how to go through this process, and hope to get help here.

Hello Davvy,


Thanks for your question about installing a WordPress site with Softaculous to a subdomain.  First, you need to define the subdomain in cPanel.  You can go into the Domains portion of your cPanel and create a subdomain there.  When it's created, then you will be able to select the subdomain when installing WordPress in Softaculous.
