How can I prevent cpanel DNS from shadowing / overriding the real DNS for my domain?
Hello, I have an inmotion website registered with a custom domain (let's pretend it's "example.org"). My nameservers are with the domain registrar, not inmotion. In the real DNS for my domain, the MX records correctly say where email to example.org should go (gmail servers). However when our website tries to email ourselves, it doesn't look at the real DNS. Instead it looks at cpanel DNS which is not configured. We have to duplicate the MX records to be able to email ourselves. How can we prevent our website from using cpanel's DNS? Thank you!

Sorry to hear that you ran into the 'website won't stop mailing itself' situation. Don't worry, this is an easy one to fix! You just need to go into cPanel's Email Routing and set the domain with the external DNS to 'Remote Mail Exchanger'. That way, cPanel, WordPress, and any other on-server software will still use your registrar's DNS when carrying out these actions. Hope that helps!
