(Apologies if the answer as written in the email update you received referred to something off topic. I had accidentally answered a different question in this window. The material below has been updated and is the direct answer to your question. )

Hello! It does sound like your site has been hacked with a form of redirect attack. I'm sorry you're dealing with such a difficult situation: here is our guide on site recovery after a hack

We do have a guide on how to clean up an .htaccess redirect hack, if you or your developer want to try manually cleaning up the corrupted and malicious files. However, since many of these hacks involve self-replicating malicious code, the safest answer to this problem is to restore your site from a backup that you have verified is 'clean' and was made before the site was hacked.

Here are our backup restoration guides on restoring site via Backup Manager, cPanel Backups, and WordPress Backups, depending on which type of backups you have been making-- although the restoration method for WordPress can vary from plugin to plugin, so make sure you follow the instructions specific to what you are using!

If you are having trouble restoring a backup, you can submit your backup along with a Data Restoration Request and we can assist you in restoration.

If you have no backups and the only existing version of the site is the currently hacked/corrupted one, you should reach out to a security specialist like Sucuri for more information on how to restore a hacked site. I hope that helps!
