Thunderbird Local folders and Google Drive
According to Google Drive my available disk space is almost used. When I check where the space consumption is located I notice that it are certain mails. I moved those mails to a newly created folder within the 'local folders' in Thunderbird. I thought that these mails were stored on my computer hard drive and not taken into account for the Google Drive since not in my IMAP GMail visible anymore. There's no need to have these mails available in the cloud or on other devices. How can I keep these (local folders) mails but prevent them from been taken into account in the used space in Google Drive?
Hello! There are a few things I wanted to suggest you try to troubleshoot this situation - it's quite likely you've already tried a few, but please let me know which you have and have not tried and we can narrow it down from there.
First, have you tried emptying the trash in Google Drive? It's possible that the version in Google has been marked for deletion but has not actually been deleted yet (this can take some time depending on your settings).
Secondly , have you tried compacting folders? I would suggest you read the relevant documentation I linked before doing so, but it's possible that there is leftover date related to the Google version of those emails that is causing them to remain, or at least appear allocated, over on the google server.
I hope one of those helps, but if not please update us on the situation and we'll see what we can figure out! It may also be worth reaching out to Thunderbird or Gmail / Google Workspace support directly.
