Can't access AMP Email Settings or email

I started getting notifications that I could not access my email (which I've been successfully doing for over 6 months, and support tells me that my server settings are wrong.  So, I corrected them and now I can't access my email because my password doesn't work.  So, I logged into AMP to change my email password and I attempt to click on EMAIL SETTINGS and get this:  Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to secure242.inmotionhosting.com:2083. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem

So, I can't seem to do anything all of a sudden.  Any ideas?  I'm waiting on Tech Support to respond again, but was hoping to figure it out faster than that.

After logging into AMP, I click on cPanel, then email and will not work, or if I click on EMAIL in AMP I get security certificate error.  I have to log into cPanel directly in order to access Tools. I didn't realize, and it took me 8 hours to determine that I could log directly into cPanel, I thought you were supposed to use AMP to access it all.  Plus once I discovered access to cPanel I was using 1 too many "t"s in my cPanel log in "hallett6" instead of "hallet6" which is the name I type hundreds of times per day, but my error. Anyway, it's solved.

Great - I'm glad the issue is resolved.  If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Hello Timmyleeturner,

Apologies for the delay in this response.  The Support Center does not have live coverage over the weekend.

I did try to duplicate the error you're having and it seems to be working at this point. However, we're also unsure of where you're clicking on "email settings"  - there is no such icon in AMP.  There's one that says "email".

AMP does provide access to email configurations, but it would be better if you managed email through cPanel.  When you log in to cPanel, email accounts will be a choice.  You can click on it, and then manage your email accounts there.

cPanel allows you to manage email accounts without having to log into them.  You can also change the password there.

As you stated, email services were working.  I checked it and it appears to be operational.  The password change for your email account can be done through cPanel (as noted above), but you'll also need to make sure that your email client is using that same password to connect to the server.

Email settings cannot be CHANGED on the server (email settings for port numbers and settings having to do with the operation of email on the server).  They have a set configuration.   If you are using an email client like MS Outlook or Apple Email, they will have a settings area where you can change your email settings.  cPanel provides you with the settings.  They look like this:

SSL/TLS email settings panel with POP3 and IMAP configurations

Those are the settings of one of the emails on the account, though I've blurred the domain name for privacy.  Also, notice that these are the SECURE settings because they use the secure port numbers.  The secure242.inmotionhosting.com setting that you have is for when you don't yet have a domain name.  If your domain names are set, then it is better to use the mail.domain-name.com format for your email settings. The privacy and security settings for email are saved in the DNS settings for that domain.

I hope this answers your questions!  If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Kindest Regards,
