How can I find out if the server that my account is on uses suPHP?

I'm building my site on the Joomla cms and I've running into some issues with folder permissions (don't want to set everything to 777). I was told that the safest bet would be to use suPHP but I'm not sure if it's included in my hosting package or even how to enable/use it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Pablo, Thanks for posting your question. I'm more than happy to assist you today. I've looked over your account. The easiest way to determine is suPHP is installed on the server that houses your account is to go to the server's php info page. To do this you'd go to: http://servername.inmotionhosting.com/phpinfo.php In your case, since you're on biz29, you'd go to: http://biz29.inmotionhosting.com/phpinfo.php In the fourth section from the top that says "Server API" if it lists CGI, then suPHP is installed. If it lists Apache, then suPHP is not installed. The server you are currently on is NOT running suPHP. You can request to be moved to a new server that runs suPHP. To request you be moved to a server running suPHP you'll need to submit a ticket to our support department. This can be done via email. Within the email please verify your account with the current AMP password or the last four digits of the credit card on file. Make sure you state that you would like to be moved to a server that uses suPHP. I've never ran across an instance with Joomla where I had to set the file permissions to 0777 (writable by the world). Typically, even by Joomla's own recommendations folders should be set to 0755 and files to 0644. If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us. Thanks! Tim S
