How to Verify Domain With Google

I've spent far too long atempting to verify my domain with google through CPanel.  The articles are outdated and not working.  Google doesn't give you a file to download and upload, they give you two link options to either add to:

CNAME Label Host
CNAME Destination/Target
or DNS configuration

Is there an easier process to get this done?  Any process?  Perhaps I've been working on it so long I'm over thinking it, however I can't get past the verify domain part of Google Webmaster without getting this done.
