I have a developer whom I have given FTP access to VPS server.
I would like him to be able to collaborate via git which requires SSH access.
I can login with my own credentials (my IP is on the firewalll whitelist) but when I use his i cannot get in
So i want to enabel other users to connect via SSH (e.g., Putty) to the server (and have access only to the subdomain of their account).
Hello! I spoke to one of our Systems Administrators, and there is really no easy way to set this up in the manner you are describing. By default anyone with cPanel SSH access is going to have access to the entire cPanel.
It is possible that your System Administrator could set up an Access Control List (ACL) to limit someone through a series of permission, but that would be very custom code and difficult to set up reliably.
If I may I'd advise you to approach the problem in a different way. cPanel is designed to divide things up into individual cPanel accounts and keep those accounts sectioned off from each other. Simply create a new cPanel account in WHM specifically for that domain or subdomain. As long as that domain/subdomain is isolated from the other accounts, you can just provide SSH access for that individual cPanel. That is much more in line with how cPanel developers normally solve this problem and considerably easier to implement. I hope that helps!
Sounds like a great solution, but in WHM I am not offered the option to create a new account (i followed the video instructions and when I type "create" I don't have the option to do so)
