are redirections instantaneous or does it take time to become effective?

Hi rayh111, DNS Redirections If you do any redirections based off of DNS, for example you've made a CNAME change or an A RECORD change, you may need to wait up to 24 hours before the change takes affect (referred to as propagation). cPanel / .htaccess redirects When you setup a redirect within cPanel (which sets up the redirect within a .htaccess file), the redirect is instantaneous. The only thing that would cause this type of redirect to not happen right away is local caching. If a cPanel redirect you setup is not working, please be sure to clear your browser's cache and then test again. I hope this helps answer your question!
