How To Create a Catch-all Email Account?

Is there any way I can add a catch-all email account or catch-all forwarding rule to Shared Hosting?

I understand catch-all is disabled per policy. Is there an add-on feature I can enable or purchase to allow catch-all emails?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting cPanel Customer Service! My name is Ian, and it would be my pleasure to assist you today.

The ability to create an email catchall does exist. Please see the following:

How-to configure the catchall email address

If your hosting provider does not allow you to take advantage of this feature, that would be a different issue entirely that should be discussed with the hosting provider. We as a software company cannot force a hosting provider to alter their acceptable use policy. I hope for your understanding.

If you need a new hosting provider it may be helpful to perform an Internet Search for "cPanel Hosting Plan." Please do note that pricing for hosting does vary widely among web hosting providers using cPanel.

Unfortunately, it would not be proper for us to recommend one hosting provider over another, but you are welcome to check our Partner Directory for a list of cPanel Partners that provide cPanel at the below link:

To find some recommendations for hosting providers, I would suggest a website called Web Hosting Talk located below:

https://www.WebHostingTalk.com

This is an Internet forum where people can discuss topics related to web hosting, especially discussing web hosting companies and their personal experiences with the companies.

If there is anything else you feel I can be of assistance with, please do not hesitate to reply to this message.

-Kind regards

Hello riddlemeright3,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, catch-all email addresses are not possible on Shared Hosting due to potential security and system resource utilization concerns. I recommend upgrading to a VPS Hosting plan as that would allow you to set up catch-all email addresses.

Best Regards,

Thanks for sharing the response.  The main issue for not allowing catch-all emails is limiting risk and maintaining server performance.  Catch-all emails are a security risk as they can become a vector for denial of service attacks.  And server performance can also be affected if multiple accounts are receiving thousands of emails at once instead of accepting only properly addressed emails.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Kindest Regards,

Arnel C.

Please post an exact additional amount in order to upgrade from shared to VPS.  This would make it clear that, in order to forward all emails in a domain, you must purchase the premium private hosting.

Any other options?  Forwarders/filters are fine until you have a large #.  I have a thousand addresses all forwarding to the same address in lieu of a catch-all.  Forwarding takes 10 minutes due to, what support tells me, is the need to go through all 1000 addresses in order to forward  an email.  I like the shared hosting as it's a savings.

I understand the benefits of Shared Hosting. You could ask cPanel directly if there's a way to automate it or possibly find a third party website to do it. Otherwise, it might be best to consider revising your email policy.

For shared hosting, we recommend using forwarders or filters, however you can enable catch-all email in a VPS package.
