Our servers are not having any security issues at this time. There are basically two types of hack, the server hack and the account hack. Our servers have not had a successful hack attempt in almost a year. Accounts, on the other hand, can be infiltrated by gaining access information from client computers.
The vast majority of hacks comes from compromised PC or Mac machines that are used to connect to the hosting account. These happen most frequently when passwords are weak, not changed often, or software on the account or the connecting machine is not up to date, allowing manipulation of security holes. Your particular incident was from one of these where they acquired an FTP password.
I do have an article that can help you with hardening your system against further compromise. Perform these steps on any computer that connects to the hosting account.
