If I buy an SSL certificate with you, it will support any further subdomains? (wildcard)

Thank you,

In one of the link says: "We do not sell Wildcard SSL certificates, so you will need to contact a  3rd party SSL provider to obtain one. Also, Wildcard SSL certificates cannot be installed on shared hosting plans."

Hello Alejandro,

My apologies, that did slip my mind when I was thinking of the Wildcard SSL.  You are correct, it cannot be installed on shard servers.  You can use it on a VPS or Dedicated server account.  As previously mentioned, you can obtain a Free SSL certificate if you need a basic SSL certificate.

Apologies again for my error.   If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Regards,

Arnel C.

Hello Alejandro,

Thanks for your question about SSL and support for subdomains.  This depends upon your how you are using the "subdomain."  If your subdomain is simply a folder under the domain-name.com, then then the SSL certificate protects everything under the domain name.  For example:

https://domain-name.com/
https://domain-name.com/folder1
https://domain-name.com/subdomain/folder1/subfolder1

However, you may use a subdomain like this:

https://subdomain.domain-name.com

Then you should purchase a Wildcard SSL that you can cover both the main domain and all the subdomains that belong to the main domain. InMotion does provide Free SSLs through cPanel. So, it may not be necessary to purchase multiple SSLs depending on the level of protection that you need for your website. If you are securing financial data or transactions that require money, you should purchase an SSL certificate that offers you protection based upon your needs. Check out this link for more info about SSL certificates. You can find more about the Free SSL here.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Kindest regards,

Arnel C.
