why did I have to transfer my domain?

Hello Susu678, If you own a domain already and have it with a different registrar, you do not have to transfer it to us. To use our servers, however, it does need to point to them. This can be done at the current registrar or with us if you have already transferred the domain. The domain simply needs to point to our nameservers, which are ns.inmotionhosting.com and ns2.inmotionhosting.com Below is an article on how to change those from within your account if the domain is with us.
