Slow loading times every 30 minutes or so

I've been editing my phpbb forum adding forums and other stuff (default theme, nothing fancy going on), and for some reason every 20 to 45 minutes (I haven't been able to tell exactly) there will be what appears to be a server downtime, because nothing will respond. I can't even go to my home domain which has nothing but directories to subdomains on it. All websites on my domain will load indefinitely, while any other external website (in the same browser [firefox] on a different tab will load instantly). I have a very highspeed connection and again, I'm not straining my account usage at all and I know it's not specific to my pc as this has also happened on my laptop at university today - using their wifi.

Things I've tried:
1. Using another browser
2. Hitting refresh a couple times if it [No improvement]
wouldn't respond [No improvement, get 404 error sometimes]
3. Testing other websites to see if it's my internet connection [Nope, they work]
4. Testing inmotionhosting.com [Nope, it loads fine during this problem]

Is there any sever maintenance going on? I just bought hosting here and it's really frustrating to see a barebones website lag for 2 minutes every so often.

What I suspect:
I'm new to web hosting in general, and all the time I've had a FileZilla [FTP] account logged in, in the background, so that COULD be what is causing it? Maybe you're not supposed to stay logged into the FTP at the root directory? (Even though there is no file upload/download going on)

Hello lw1990, While I do not know of any ongoing problems with the server, I do know that it was having some load spikes within the past 24 hours. Those seem to have been resolved by our Systems department currently. When you are experiencing any downtime or latency on the site, please follow the instructions from the link below during the time of the issue send in the results, along with any details, to [email protected]. This will supply us with data we can use to help pinpoint the cause of the latency. Sometimes a server can be latent or even go down temporarily due to heavy load, but there are just as many times that the issue lies within the network of servers and lines that lie between a client computer and the server, even if other sites seem fine. This test helps us to find and identify where this may be. We certainly do not want your site down any more than you do and out goal is to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Ping and Trace test Best Regards, Scott M
