Thanks for confirming George!  Another way to check the host is to ping the domain, get the resulting IP, then run a WHOIS check on the IP address.

I hope this helps with any future issues. If you need further assistance, please let us know!

Hi there. Arnel is right that this was due to DNS propaganation which takes time and it depends on how often the DNS servers clear their cache. If you go to https://hostingchecker.com/#localgrunts.org now, you will see the correct info.

The HostingChecker tool work with the Google DNS. In simple words, it pings google and asks what IP is associated with the domain name. Then it checks the IP against the database to check who owns it and returns the datacenter / hosting company. So it usually returns correct results once google sees your new DNS settings.

Thank you for looking. I have no idea what the IP might be. Once I pointed the domain to the inmotion servers they should be taking care of that, I would think. I added the Domain to my Inmotion Account, so I guess I'll have to contact support. Something is just not right somewhere, which I can not see.The settings all look quite the same as two other domains on the account that work correctly. Thanks again.

When I looked at ICANN's WHOIS page, the name servers are reporting as correct, but there is no information about who is hosting the site.  Hosting Checker is a third party service and it is not an "official" information site for hosting information.  They provide it and it's up to them how it's updated.  If you read the Terms of service, they make no guarantees to the information's authenticity.

You can run a WHOIS on the IP address to see where you're being hosted as well.  it should confirm who your host is. I tried to run a test on the localgrunts.org domain in several online tools and all of them are getting errors when trying to reach your domain.  If you can provide us an IP address we can also look.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.

Also, Hostingchecker shows the correct name servers. I will wait, but I've waited on another domain with the same results. This localgrunts.org was used to test if I could get a result.

I would think that too, except. when I used HostingChecker before I changed the nameservers it got nothing. After I changed them to ns1 &ns2.inmotionhosting.com I got this back that it's hosted on Vultr. That domain was never used before. Strange. Same with another domain I just tried to host.

Hello Scotty,

Thanks for the information and sorry for the confusion with the WHOIS information for the domain.  DNS information typically requires up to 24 hours to update when name servers are changed.  This is known as domain propagation. In some cases, this period may take longer.  Also, we're not sure how often that service (Hosting Checker) updates their information.  You would need to contact them to find out.  I ran a ping checker to see if internet servers have been updated and most of the servers have yet to see the change.  This is why I am thinking that is just basic propagation.  If you can see the site on the internet from multiple locations, then the domain has been updated to the internet and then it's just up to the Host Checker service to update their info.

If you have any further questions or comments, please let us know.
