Why can't I email a 39.6 MB file?

The message itself is very short, a few text lines. There is only one attachment of 39.6 MB, but I get an Alert message back saying that the 50MB limit has been exceeded. Am using Thunderbird. Thanks.

Hello trufflecat, and thanks for your question. Typically email is not going to be the best transfer method for large files due to both the sending and receiving mail servers usually having different attachment limits or settings. I would typically recommend uploading the file to your site via FTP and then just emailing a link, or if it's more sensitive data that needs some sharing permissions implemented using a service like Google Drive, DropBox, or Box, would probably be best. What is the exact error message you are receiving, and does Thunderbird itself pop-up with this error, or are you getting a bounce-back message from the receiving server containing this error? This issue might be best handled over support, as typically when handling email issues we'd want to know the sending and receiving email addresses at hand with the problem so that we can fully review the mail logs for any indications of problems. You can submit a ticket by sending an email to [email protected] and be sure to verify you account in that message with either the current AMP password of your account, or the last 4 digits of the credit card on file.
