vqmod not working after migration of opencart website to new server

I have recently transferred a pre-exisiting opencart website developed on our server (123-reg) to a different server (ipage) - since having installed the database and transferring the folder structure via ftp, we cannot seem to get the vqmod system to work! it says it's been installed correctly, but when we insert an extension, it just doesn't work through the website, i.e. we can't see it in the admin panel... the permissions of the vqmod folder is set to 755 so that's not the issue - can anyone recommend anything? thanks!

It sounds like something may be lost in the process. Try re-uploading everything again. If that doesn't work, you may need to contact the new host to see if any errors are occurring on the server side of things.
