How to View Saved Passwords
It can be challenging to try to remember all your passwords. If you are logged into your macOS Catalina device using your AppleID, you can manage your iCloud Keychain saved passwords. Any device associated with your AppleID will then be able to auto-fill your passwords. This includes iOS devices as well. Your saved passwords are secured by TouchID or your user’s password, so you can rest assured that your passwords can not be accessed without your permission.
If you have previously saved passwords using Safari, then you can view them using a macOS device that is logged in using your AppleID. The steps below will show you how to view your saved password(s) using macOS Catalina.
- Open the Safari application.
- Click on Safari from the menu bar.
- Click on Preferences….
- Click on the Passwords tab.
NOTE: You will need to authenticate using TouchID or your Mac user’s password to access this secure area.
- Once you authenticate, the list of saved passwords will be visible. Click on the item you would like to view.
- Click the Details… button.
Now you know how to view your saved passwords. If you have a lot of saved passwords, you may not see the one you are looking for right away. Continue reading through the next section to learn how you can search for saved passwords.
How to Search for Saved Passwords
You can search through your passwords by website or username. When you navigate to the Passwords tab of the preferences menu in Safari, you will see a search field. If you have saved the password for your website, for example, you can begin typing your domain and options that match will be displayed. If you saved your cPanel or Account Management Panel (AMP) password, then you can begin typing your cPanel username.
Knowing how to search for a password will help you easily find a particular one when you need it.
How to Change Saved Passwords
