How Do I Cancel My Hosting Account?

We are sorry to hear that you want to cancel your hosting account!

Most of our plans include a 90-day money-back guarantee. This period of time should allow you to test additional programs available with your account if that is the issue. For example, if you’re not sure if WordPress is going to meet your needs, you can save time by using the BoldGrid page builder instead to speed up your website buildout workflow.

How to Disable Auto-Renew and Cancel Services

To disable auto-renewals or cancel services you will follow the same process.

  1. First, you will need to login to AMP.
  2. Click the Billing tab, then click My Subscriptions. This will bring up your subscriptions.



  3. To cancel a service or disable auto-renewals, click the red “X” next to the product or service you would like to cancel.



    After clicking the red “X”, you will be taken to a short survey screen. From there you will just need to answer the required survey questions, then click Submit. Once done, you will be taken to a screen that says “Cancellation Request Submitted.”



    You will now see that the subscription you canceled says “Set to Expire.”



Canceling a product or service will set it to expire, but any subscriptions will remain active until the time that has already been paid in advance and will no longer renew.

If you would like to cancel something immediately instead of setting it to expire, or if you decide in the future that you want to renew again, please contact Customer Service so that they may assist you with an immediate cancelation or renew your hosting account. They are available from 9AM – 9PM ET, Monday – Friday. We recommend calling them at +1-757-416-6575 as the fastest method, followed by chat, and then creating a ticket if necessary.

    1. Yes, disabling comments may be more convenient for us in the short term, but in the long run the comments serve to emphasize the point that this is the wrong location to post sensitive data. We believe it’s helpful to strike out the data and point the poster in the right direction.

  4. Greetings –

    I was all set to sign up, but then I reviewed the cancellation section of the ToS.  As I read it, cancellation ALWAYS requires (at least) a $50 payment, unless one cancels precisely 30 days prior to the end of the contract term.

    Am I reading the ToS correctly?  If not, would Inmotion please explain how these cancellation terms are to understood and given effect?

      Thanks for posting your question regarding the Cancellations section of our Terms of Service. I went ahead and reached out to our Customer Service team to provide some clarification. The $50 early termination fee, as stated in our Terms of Service, applies to cancellations that do not fall under our standard money back guarantee. Customers may always set their accounts to expire 30 days prior to renewal and doing so does not incur the early termination fee. Renewal Reminders are set up to allow customers to prevent any unwanted renewals.

  8. I’m surprised by all of the negative comments on here.  I just canceled my hosting subscription and it was extremely simple.  It only took about 10 minutes in an online chat and the agent was very helpful.  I found the instructions to be quite simple to follow.

    I did not know about this cost. I would like to return to the previous primary domain, or if not after making the payment I would like to increase my hosting duration by 25.01.2019

  14. Hi. I need to cancel the domain service right now, before starts a new purchase. I live in Colombia – South America and i was calling for about 30 minutes and no one answer to my call, at this pace the cancelation procees will cost me more than a year of subscription with your service. Please cancel my subscription via email or other way, i also tried to use your “live chat”, but it’s down…very sad for a hosting company. I never been cancelling a subscription like this, but i feel very upset about this, so please cancel my account.

    I am extremely mad that you debited my credit card without my consent for a yearly subscription i never even used in the prior year. last year i took out the subscription as it was at a massive discount. However if you go and look at my activity, you would notice that i never managed to complete a website in order to make use of the hosting services i purchased from you. you should also notice that my domain has subsequently expired and i am not going to renew the license. So quite frankly the fact that you think you are entitled to debit my account for services i never used nor are going to use is unacceptable. you should actually offer me a refund for the first year’s subscription costs that i paid to you as i never made use of your services. Well a reputable company would do that. 

    Anyways i ask that you please reverse the charges you processed against my credit card and cancel any subscriptions i have with your company. Please note this serves as any notice in writing that you might require from me to terminate any subscriptions or services that you offer me. 

    If you however don’t reverse the charge of $146.87 then i will call my bank and order them to reverse this fraudulent transaction. Your choice`

      I do apologize for this inconvenience and you can request a refund by contacting our customer service department. However just to let you know as it states in our Terms of Service that you agreed to in Section 2 article A, it states the following:

      The initial term of this Agreement shall be as set forth in the Order Form (the “Initial Term”). The Initial Term shall begin upon commencement of the Services to Customer. After the Initial Term, this Agreement shall automatically renew. ADDITIONALLY AFTER THE INITIAL TERM, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE, AGREE AND AUTHORIZE COMPANY TO AUTOMATICALLY BILL AND/OR CHARGE ON YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR SUCCESSIVE TERMS OF EQUAL LENGTH AS THE INITIAL TERM, UNLESS TERMINATED OR CANCELLED BY EITHER PARTY AS PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION. The Initial Term and all successive renewal periods shall be referred to, collectively, as the “Term”.

  18. I really like Inmotion Hosting they have great customer service reps and have always honored their refund policy. Unfortunately through no fault on their part I have had to use it more than once.

      If you are referring to your cPanel/WHM Reseller name, you can certainly change that. Simply log into your WHM and then select “Modify Account” on the left sidebar. Choose your account to modify and then you can change its name. Be aware that also changes the cPanel name as well, so you will use the new name for both WHM and cPanel. If you have Root access to your WHM, that username stays as ‘root’.

      You are unable to cancel accounts or domains here. Domains with .eu are not domains that we register, so we are not able to cancel them. You will need to contact that registrar to cancel. If you have a hosting account with us for that domain, you will need to contact the Live Customer Service department to do so. You can do that via chat, email, or phone.

  26. Your cancellation “process,” I suspect is designed to be so cumbersome that clients choose not to follow through.  It should be much easier to cancel; at least as easy as it is to sign up.

  33. Just a note. I have my account to set up to auto renew. However, I was fortunate to log in today and check my account status and learned that the credit card I use to auto renew expired many months ago. Fortunately, I was able to get that updated before my auto renew date came up. Would I have gotten a notice before my domain became eligible for a take over?

    1. When any bill item fails to bill, we will send notices via the primary email on the account letting you know that there was an issue charging the card on file. In the event that you do not notice the emails in time, the domain would cease to work, so you would notice it there, but you would still have the option to renew before someone would have the opportunity to take it over from you.

      When you sign up for hosting, it posts a charge, but the charge does not go through until you confirm your purchase over the phone.

      We call and email you using the contact information that was provided at signup. If you do not confirm your account over the phone, the initial charge will not go through.

  35. I’ve tried and tried to get further than submitting the initial ticket … I can log into AMP and CPanel, but not Support. I’ve tried calling, 10 minutes on hold is too long.

        Unfortunately we can’t process cancellation requests here publicly without an authorized request. So if you’re unable to login to AMP to process your request, please be sure to submit a ticket to have your request processed.

      We definitely apologize for the delay and any frustrations they have caused you. I do see your email request to cancel your account, and see that the billing team hasn’t gotten back to you quite yet. I’ve gone ahead and alerted them of your ticket.

      To help expedite the process, you could reply to your cancellation request email again confirming your account with the current AMP password, or the last 4 digits of the credit card on file.

      I see that your account doesn’t renew for another month, so there should be plenty of time to process the account cancellation before then.

      In regards to forgetting your password, please check in any Junk folders to ensure the password reset email might not have accidentally gotten filtered.
