Joomla 2.5 - Cant get old urls to redirect to new domain

Recently changed main domain on website from one domain to another, that worked fine but can't seem to get rid of old URL's and 301 redirect to new site. I have duplicates of all links and content for old and new site. Called support many times, tried htaccess changes, set-up redirects, upload changed database with new domain replaced in it (get errors), deleted old and uploaded new with new domain replacing it. Nothing works, any ideas?

Is the old domain still added to your account? Is it added as a Parked, Addon domain, or in a separate cPanel, etc?
