SSL cert with addon domain

I have one main domain, www.domain1.com and an addon (from GoDaddy), www.domain2.com that is for a client. The client needs and SSL certificate for www.domain2.com and I have been looking for hours trying figure out how to do this.

I'm sorry if this sounds very scattered but it's how I feel right now. I have the Pro Plan with no dedicated IP address. I gather that first I would need to buy a dedicated IP. Once I do that, all my domains and addons are on the IP (including www.domain2.com). Although I could buy from an SSL from Inmotion I would be giving up the option to buy one for my own website later on, since client has no cpanel access. So can I then get a 3rd party SSL and install it on the client site (www.domain2.com)? Am I even allowed to do that since I don't own the domain? Or would it be easier to make www.domain2.com a subdomain of www.domain1.com and use a wildcard SSL through 3rd party? OR do I just have the wrong kind of plan for this? Open to suggestions!

I'm probably really stressing over all this for nothing but it's taking up my whole day! Please help my understand how this should work. Thanks! —Danielle

Hello Danielle, Thank you for your question about SSL cert with addon domain. Yes, getting an SSL can seem daunting at first, but it's fairly straightforward. If you are in Business Class hosting, I suggest requesting the SSL through InMotion because you do not have the necessary server access to install an SSL on your own (as you would in VPS or higher). Of course, you are not obligated to purchase the SSL from InMotion. You can pick from a wide variety of SSL vendors who offer paid and free SSLs, and we can complete the installation for a small fee. If this latter option works for you, all you need to do is request a CSR (which you will use to get your third-party SSL). Best, Christopher M.
